Leanne Cody; Piano
Leanne lives in Barry and started to play the piano at the age of six. She attended the Royal Welsh College of Music junior department from the age of eight before accepting a place at Chetham’s School of music for sixth form.
While at Chetham’s she reached the finals of the concerto competition in the first term and participated in outside concerts around Manchester. She was presented with the Piano Performance prize and the Academic Music prize.
From 2008 Leanne has been studying with Peter Lawson at the Royal Northern College of Music while on the prestigious joint course degree with the music department at Manchester University. In the past year, she has played in many concerts as a soloist and a chamber musician, and received a bursary from the Elizabeth Evans Trust.
Frances Evans; Violin
Frances was born in Salisbury in 1990. She began to learn the violin aged seven and three years later entered the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department. In 2003 Frances won a scholarship to the Purcell School under the DFEE’s Music and Dance Scheme, where she studied violin with Evgueny Grach. She now studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Benedict Holland. She gave her first solo violin recital at New Hall, Essex, at the age of 13, and has since performed countrywide. She has been awarded several prizes for her playing, including the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department Violin Prize. She was awarded the Eileen Merry Bursary by Salisbury Symphony Orchestra in 2007.
Frances currently plays with various orchestras and ensembles at the RNCM as well as being a member of the Britten Pears Orchestra this year. She has performed in various venues including LSO St Lukes, the Wigmore Hall, Buckingham Palace, and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. She performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor with Salisbury Sinfonia in 2007.
Frances’ violin was made in 2005 by Wolfgang Scharff.
Kylie Yang; Flute
Kylie was born in Tainwan and moved to England in 2003. She now lives in Warrington and is currently studying with Laura Jellicoe at the RNCM. She went to the Junior Department of RNCM from age 13 to 16 and attended Chetham’s School of Music for sixth form. She has performed with the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra in various venues including the Bridgewater Hall, Windsor Castle, Selby Abbey and Chester Cathedral.
Kylie has played in various ensembles and orchestra at the RNCM and has been giving both solo and chamber performances around manchester.
